It was hard to connect the history of Pompeii with the sight of the ruins, as they removed the casts of the victims and placed them in an exhibit near the entrance. Sorrento Tip #1: If you are staying in Sorrento, Pompeii is a must! It's only an hour bus ride, but be wary of the traffic, as the roads are very narrow. Afterwards we had lunch and wine pairings at Cantina del Vesuvio, a local vineyard with a good reputation. Family owned since 1948, the vineyard has worked to create high quality, organic wine. There is something about the ambiance of vineyards that I find utterly relaxing. The scenery was stunning, and, combined with the beautiful weather, made for a lovely afternoon.
